Many electric vehicles have two charging sockets, one for AC charging (typically slow to medium speed charging done at home or work) and one for DC fast charging.
Nowadays, most vehicles that are manufactured outside of Japan have one socket that is used for both AC and DC charging, called CCS (Combined Charging System).
Furthermore, different vehicles have varying maximum charging speeds for both AC and DC charging. Where some earlier EVs like the Nissan Leaf were limited to 3.7kW AC charging, many now support charging speeds of up to 7.4kW (single phase) and some even support three phase charging up to 22kW.
