OUR STORY

We've been at this since 2014

Ed Harvey founded Evnex in Christchurch in 2014 after converting his Honda Accord to electric, making it one of New Zealand's first EVs. He couldn't find a home charger built for local conditions, so he built one himself.

He still runs the company. We still build every charger here. And every decision, from the components we use to the way our support team serves our customers, comes from people who actually use what we make.

MANUFACTURING & SUPPORT

Local, on purpose

Every Evnex charger is built in Christchurch, using local suppliers where we can. Our engineers design for New Zealand conditions because they live in them. And our support team is based here too, on the phones seven days a week for the life of your charger.

Compatible with every EV on New Zealand roads.

Smart charging FAQs

Still have questions?
Do all Evnex chargers offer solar integration?

Our E2 Core, E2 Plus, and X22 models include solar smarts. The E2 Flex is designed for grid-only homes but can be upgraded for solar later if needed.

Solar smarts enable our chargers to identify when unused locally generated energy is being exported to the grid, and instead use this to charge your EV — slowing the charge to match the exported solar.

If you wish to charge at full speed, but don't have enough available solar energy, you can override this with our “Charge Now’ feature — topping up the remainder from the grid.

The E2 Flex will pull power from the grid, plus solar if you have it — but doesn't have the solar smarts required to control solar charging like our other chargers do. You can unlock solar smarts on your E2 Flex for a one-time fee of $349.

Do you offer three-phase charging solutions?

Yes, we offer three-phase charging for houses with three-phase power — we recommend you chat to our expert team to determine if this is the right fit for you. Our three-phase chargers are available in tethered and universal socket options.

Will my car be compatible with an Evnex charger?

Evnex chargers are compatible with all electric vehicle makes and models (bar a very small number of older models). The type of plug your EV uses (Type 1 or Type 2) will determine the specific charger model you need.

What's the difference between the E2 Flex and the E2 Core?

The E2 Flex doesn’t come with a cable hook or solar smarts, and doesn’t function as a client within multi-charger management set-ups. The E2 Core does come with these features.

However, the E2 Flex can be upgraded to unlock solar smarts for a one-off fee of $349.

Do you offer installation, and what's included?

Yes, we install our chargers throughout Australia and New Zealand. Our network of local, friendly, professional electricians is well-trained on our products and can offer expert advice on all of your charging needs. Following your installation, we'll provide ongoing support — whether you're an EV driver, business owner, or fleet manager.
