FAQs
Evnex chargers are compatible with all electric vehicle makes and models (bar a very small number of older models). The type of plug your EV uses (Type 1 or Type 2) will determine the specific charger model you need.
Our chargers are compatible with the majority of homes, and can be installed indoors or out. They can even be installed at homes with limited electrical spare capacity, thanks to our home-overload protection.
If you’re in an apartment, we recommend getting in touch with our sales team to discuss your options.
Yes, all Evnex chargers have solar integration as a standard feature.
When enabled, Solar Diversion will identify when unused locally generated energy is being exported to the grid, and instead use this to charge your EV — slowing the charge to match the exported solar.
If a you wish to charge at full speed, but doesn’t have enough available solar energy, you can override this with our “Charge Now’ feature — topping up the remainder from the grid.

The charging speed of your vehicle depends on several factors, including the model of your vehicle, its battery size, the electrical capacity of your home, and the type of charger you use. We offer two charger options to suit your needs: a single-phase 7.4kW charger and a three-phase 22kW charger.

Yes. When charging under Solar Diversion, our X-series chargers can look at the total excess across all three phases to determine how much power is available to divert to the car.
We provide a 3-year warranty on the hardware and a 1-year warranty on installation. Please note that the installation warranty is only available if only available if you have Evnex handle your installation.
Yes. Evnex chargers can be configured in various different ways depending on your preferences – perhaps you want to fill the battery from solar during the day and discharge clean energy into your car at night, or want to use only excess solar to fill your car and avoid discharging your battery into your car.
Through a combination of app settings and installation choices you can enable the behaviour you want from your battery
Once you've set up your preferences through the driver app, it’s as simple as plugging in and walking away! You can choose whether to charge immediately, schedule charging sessions, or set up to charge from excess solar.
For detailed information on how to maximize the features of the app, check out the Getting Started and Smart Charging Features sections of the Evnex Knowledge Hub.
There are huge range of factors which affect battery lifespan, but, generally, AC charging (such as you would do at home) would have little-to-no effect on battery lifespan.
The grid provides power over Alternating Current (AC), but batteries need to be charged by Direct Current (DC).
AC chargers like ours supply AC to the car, where a small onboard inverter turns it into DC, ready to feed into the battery. This is suitable for places where your car will stay parked for hours, like your home, workplace or destinations (malls, supermarkets, attractions).
By contrast, DC chargers perform the conversion outside the car, which then feeds directly into the battery. With a large kerbside inverter, this allows for extremely rapid charging such as you need on a long journey, but the hardware and installation costs run to the tens or even hundreds of thousands.

Chargers can be installed directly on to any wall, or with mounting hardware for "standalone" positioning —such as a driveway. Our chargers are designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
They've been put through their paces in our testing environment — so they’re able to withstand even the harshest climates.
